ANIME REVIEW TIME... FEATURING.... STRIKE THE BLOOD!

well as you can see today I Lehvorak, owner of Defensor Artz will be talking about Strike the Blood and my first comment on it when I first watched it was... I NEED TO SEE MORE!

It is your typical action anime and I understand not many people would enjoy it due to how it is like a harem and a lot of anime have that fan-service set-up, but I am not here to argue... but to present why I enjoyed this series.

First things first we all know the whole vampire idea was overused like couple years ago and such and really got killed by the Twilight series... YUCK!

I am sorry but if you are a die-heart Twilight fan I respect your fan-base and all, but it wasn't for me. There were also a ton of anime that featured vampires and it started to become overused...

The uniqueness of this anime is you got this magic shaman girl who does her magic and a computer hacker who is the best in her world.

Yes... I am talking about these 2 characters:

Himeragi Yukina

Asagi Aiba

And you can tell from the very beginning like the opening of the series that these girls is going to fall in love with the main character, despite how many times these producers try to cover it up... but they fail at!

If you saw the video, you see basically almost all the characters that will show on this series right at the very beginning. It was obvious how this would be a harem series just after seeing all the girl characters.

I do warn you, that this is a one-sided anime that only appeal to men... if I were a woman I would be offended by this series.... but oh well, all we have to do is appreciate the story.

There are a ton of story arcs in this series which made it exciting, it kind of reminded me of bleach in a way because of how many story arcs that series has or even.... yeah Naruto....

The concept idea of how the main character: Kojou Akatsuki is the 4th progenitor is pretty interesting and how he has to help protect his island home or even protect Yukina. I don't want to spoil too much of the series despite the openings of the series already does spoil a bunch... unless you are bad with the metaphors/hints in those videos. Overall, I did enjoy it and would suggest checking it out!

Defensor Artz at Lake Count I Con!

Looks like Defensor Artz is going to attend another convention! Yahoo! (Not as in the yahoo company that exists...)

In our Facebook and Deviantart we mentioned that we are heading to a convention called Lake Count I Con in our advertisement!

So yes, we'll see you there hopefully! There are a ton of new items we are selling in that convention! If you are unfamiliar with our products we basically sell Anime art to gaming, miniatures, paintings, etc.!

Also, we might have a small preview slideshow of the web manga Nami presented in this convention for people to view if you guys haven't seen the few pages already. We haven't neglected the series yet... just been too busy.... that's all...

Defensor Artz in Uchi-con?

Hey guys!

Guess what?

If you don't know... I'll give you a hint... Defensor Artz and... convention....

Well, if you say we are being press and media for a convention... you are WRONG!!! Because we are actually having a booth in a convention selling our awesome artworks, presenting the Defensor style!

Say WHAT? Yes, we are actually having a booth in a convention in Chicago at the University of Chicago, and this convention is called Uchi-con, so don't miss out on our awesomeness! I encourage you guys to check it out because we have a lot of works to show you!

From digital artworks, ME-charms (figurines), and Manga Caricatures!!!! So check it out!!!!

I am so excited for this moment because this is the first time Defensor Artz will have its booth of its own in a convention and hopefully you guys come down and visit because we have a lot of neat products in store for you!

Nami: The Bionicle Legend

Nami has been a work I had been working on since 2008 and it took me until this year Nov. 11, 2013 to finally make it into a webcomic series. All that hard work is finally progressing into something great, and I hope this series reach the many fans of Bionicle along with some new fans to enjoy and embrace the feels of... somewhat a Bionicle story.

The huge difference with this series is: it revolves around a human instead of just the biomechanical creatures in the Bionicle Universe...

You guys must be wondering "why a human?"

"Isn't there already too much stories with humans?"

I have no idea how to answer those questions yet... so lets continue on with what I was saying first...

This story, Nami has been a work I had been constantly working on and editing overtime, and it all started as an idea during the time when Bionicle was ending and I was fascinated in combining both humans and Bionicle into one awesome series because it was being done partially in BZPower forums (www.bzpower.com) by its members and even making a short anime series.

This might answer the previous questions mentioned earlier.

The only problem was coming up with an idea that no one has done yet which took some thinking to do... with Lego's epic series coming to an end (Well the toy line was ending) It felt like this awesome Bionicle series cannot end yet and there has to be more, which caused me to create a story that revolves with the Bionicle universe but not a continuation of what happens after, but more like a whole new story. It has almost all the same characters as the original and they do make their cameos, along with some new characters in the story.

That led to the first small DESCRIPTION of the series!

The story is about a girl name Nami Tsukimiya who started her first year in high school, but somehow got involved with a huge mishap... This involved the discovery of Biomechanical beings and she was chosen to bring balance to both worls.

Well not too much of a description but I had a light novel and a pilot comic to go with it here is the link to the light novel and here is the pilot comic! (Nami Light Novel)

After making the pilot comic on 2008... I then had plans to make a whole live action movie of it.... but that didn't happen and it just all halted from there until 2011... I picked up the series again and did some modifications.

The only thing was it didn't start becoming a mnaga again until now... During Summer 2013, I began planning for the webcomic series for Defensor Artz along with other web comic series in the future. It was then I decided to use Nami to start out the whole webcomic cherades which became the series you see now! The Doctor is IN! (Dr. Mario)

Feeling Sick?

Feel Nauseous?

Do you need Medicine?

Then you need a DOCTOR!

Well let me say, Dr. Mario can heal your illness with his awesome pills! Tossing pills inside a bottle killing off all the viruses is as awesome as playing tetris! Dr. Mario is an awesome puzzle game that can be played for all ages and in the newer ones like the Nintendo 64 version up to the Wii, you can use your awesome puzzle-playing skills to show off against your opponents or beat the never ending viruses.

As you can see how many changes had gone on for the game but mostly the gameplay has been the same throughout the entire time. Any strategies for these games? I guess you can say, keep doing combos because that gets you a lot of points and it helps you a lot especially when you are playing against another person, because it sends trash on your opponents side. The thing about the trash is... you might be either helping your opponent or making it hard for them... so basically you don't know!

Overall, the game is fun for a short period of time. It can be addicting. I don't know I'll say it would be a huge favorite among gamers but it is a classic game!

So I'll give tis game a 3.5 out of 5 stars for its classic-likeness!

That Bear & Bird!

Banjo-Kazooie is a classic Nintendo 64 game that came out on 1998 and was re-released on 2008 for the Xbox 360 via XBox Live Arcade. This game brings back a lot of memories of my childhood because I spent hours playing this game and had a lot of fun playing as a honey bear and bird who fights against a witch. Yes, you battle an evil witch who kidnaps your sister and you are the only one that can save her from imminent danger and to reach her, you need to go through the many worlds that are introduced to you to gain jigsaw pieces and musical notes that helps you open doors in the witch's lair... until you finally get to the top and duke it out.

This game gave me a lot of inspiration as a kid and as an artist it helped me on my creative experiences because there were some things that I took from this game and placed it in my works, but yes this game is one of the best ones I ever played as a kid and I always loved the music scores for this game!

Especially Gruntilda's lair! That song has never left my head and always been playing just like the Dr. Mario Fever song. I also remember on the game you have to learn battle moves from a mole named Bottles who teaches you almost anything on the game and guides you along the way as you head deeper in the witch's lair. There were so many things that were in this game that were so much fun and a little better than Super Mario 64.

Also, when the sequel of this game came out, I was so excited about it... if I could recall... I called my cousin occasionally on the phone (YES BEFORE CELLPHONES I HELD A PHONE!) about certain tricks and areas on the game helping each other out beat the game, but I did notice that the sequel of this game "Banjo-Tooie" was a lot easier than its predecessor.

But the cool thing about the sequel is... YOU CAN MAKE KAZOOIE (The bird) INTO A DRAGON!!!

Which was awesome... and it was interesting how they tried to do the swap n stop by alternating the games simultaneously and being able to use the same items from both games. Their planning was way advance for its time but sadly, that plan never happened due to how the Nintendo 64 worked and it may actually damage your console... >.>"

Anyways, yes this game was one of the best and was one of my inspirations as a kid and hopefully you guys tried it before... if not, then go get yourself an xbox 360 and purchase it on xbox live arcade and give it a try... sadly it won't be the same as laying it on the N64, but at least you can relive the 90s a little bit!

Also they came out with something called Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts.... which isn't as fun as the original, but at least you can create awesome vehicles on it! So I'll leave you with a picture of Nuts & Bolts!

Drawing it on Digital or Traditional?

Can be described as a range of artistic works or practices by using Digital Technology as your medium.

Our world has changed a lot over the years, do you guys remember when it was all hand drawn on paper with graphite pencils or charcoal pencils? Those types of mediums are still being used today, but the thing is... everyone is into the digital age and trying to keep up with it. As Illustration artists, we want to be part of the trend by using any drawing tablets to draw on a digital medium using any program like Paint Tool Sai or Photoshop.

Not only we use our computers... we even started using apps that are on our smart phones or iPads. The point here is what are the struggles of transitioning from our comfy pencil and paper to a metallic/plastic material where we have to scrape these two together? I guess the question to ask is... do older illustration artist have a chance against the new age or are they able to adapt?

Back in the day it was all about sketching it out on paper and then painting the pictures with the good old oil paint or acrylics. In my opinion, I think it is still alright for us to learn with paper and pencil because that is where we learn how to do the traditional way and touch on something that all artists of today kind of lack which is value. We can learn value by using this head statue

A lot of my ways of learning value is by my former mentor, Harry Ahn who taught me that "Value is key." Without the basic understandings of how the old masters did things, how can we call ourselves artists? Maybe more of a rebel? I guess that is how the whole art movement came about creating odd things such as cubism, but without this whole understanding of value... we will never learn how to do the right portraits or even learn how the human head value scale works.

Moving back to the digital art, I am not saying it is a bad thing to transfer to the new age, but embrace it as a whole, because this is what our culture is into now! Who knows what other new things we will see in the future? For the question about older artists, the answer is that they need to be up to date to the latest trends of today because whatever artist do, we need to be up to date because that is where the money is! I mean we are trying to gain money for our works right?

But I believe we should use both the digital and traditional ways of art and combine it as one entity, because that might be the key point on discovering your own style. Who knows? Hopefully this talk was more of an inspiration than insult.

As you can see adapting to digital art took me a short while, but I believe there is a lot more to learn from... Well, that is all I have to say, so...take a look at this sketch I did!

Is an awesome Anime Illustrations, Graphics, and Media company that I created and will spread the idea of the Defensor Art style to the world. It is motivated by the Japanese Manga (comic) art style mixed with realism and American comic art. This company came about almost a year or so ago, but was finally established this year on May 2013 during ACEN (Anime Central) 2013

The goal of this company is to show upcoming anime and live media in conventions along with selling awesome artwork and other products here that are handcrafted and made specifically for the customer needs. Did I even mention that my company can do graphic design stuff for clients? That is how well rounded we are!

Hopefully this whole business will be known because I want to share the world my own fantasies and sell awesome handmade products along with future published manga stories and even posters!
