Striking that BLOOD!

ANIME REVIEW TIME... FEATURING.... STRIKE THE BLOOD!

well as you can see today I Lehvorak, owner of Defensor Artz will be talking about Strike the Blood and my first comment on it when I first watched it was... I NEED TO SEE MORE!

It is your typical action anime and I understand not many people would enjoy it due to how it is like a harem and a lot of anime have that fan-service set-up, but I am not here to argue... but to present why I enjoyed this series.

First things first we all know the whole vampire idea was overused like couple years ago and such and really got killed by the Twilight series... YUCK!

I am sorry but if you are a die-heart Twilight fan I respect your fan-base and all, but it wasn't for me. There were also a ton of anime that featured vampires and it started to become overused...

The uniqueness of this anime is you got this magic shaman girl who does her magic and a computer hacker who is the best in her world.

Yes... I am talking about these 2 characters:

Himeragi Yukina

Asagi Aiba

And you can tell from the very beginning like the opening of the series that these girls is going to fall in love with the main character, despite how many times these producers try to cover it up... but they fail at!

If you saw the video, you see basically almost all the characters that will show on this series right at the very beginning. It was obvious how this would be a harem series just after seeing all the girl characters.

I do warn you, that this is a one-sided anime that only appeal to men... if I were a woman I would be offended by this series.... but oh well, all we have to do is appreciate the story.

There are a ton of story arcs in this series which made it exciting, it kind of reminded me of bleach in a way because of how many story arcs that series has or even.... yeah Naruto....

The concept idea of how the main character: Kojou Akatsuki is the 4th progenitor is pretty interesting and how he has to help protect his island home or even protect Yukina. I don't want to spoil too much of the series despite the openings of the series already does spoil a bunch... unless you are bad with the metaphors/hints in those videos. Overall, I did enjoy it and would suggest checking it out!

What Time is it? IT'S GOLDEN TIME!

Well a new anime that came out for this Fall 2013 season has been hitting it big lately and it is called "Golden Time"

It has been a while since I blogged anything, because I had been sooooo busy! Sorry about that! Anyways, Golden Time is an awesome new series from the makers of ToraDora?

You guys know what I am talking about right?

Do you?

Well... if you don't know what Toradora is... It is another awesome series and the anime looks like this:

So check that out!

Now back to Golden Time!!!

I don't want to give out any spoilers if you guys haven't seen the anime or read the light novel/manga yet because where is the fun in that?

The story starts out with a guy name Banri Tada, and he is a first year in college and he is going to this law school where he meets many friends and all and one of them that sticks out is a girl name Koko Kaga who is this spoiled rich girl... Kinda similar to Taiga from Toradora... and those two soon get along with each other.

Well Koko Kaga looks like this:

I mean look at her... doesn't she look like Taiga Aisaka here is Taiga's image for comparison:

Well anyways, they both go through their college life and as we can see already from the series since it is currently still on-going at this moment... that there is something big going to happen... Like a big drama that is going to take place which might shaken up the characters BIG TIME! If you compare that to Toradora... things might get nasty between our main characters... So I guess I have to find out...

I really love the characters in this series and how hilarious they set up this anime. I know there are things that can be cliche, but who cares! This is still enjoyable and you rarely get this kind of anime often.

I'll just say that my favorite character so far in this series is Linda.

Her character is so mature and someone I would actually go for if she was real hahaha!

I am also so addicted to the ending song of the series and guess who sang it? Yui Horie!

This song Sweet & Sweet Cherry:

It is no wonder I am addicted to the song, because I really enjoy her music! The funny thing also is, she also voice-acted in the anime Toradora too and now she is in this one! So much awesome stuff in this anime!

Anyways.... you guys should check it out if you are a die-heart fan of drama anime because this is something big and great... also Golden Time made it to the TOP 5 ANIME LIST on Kotaku (Click Here to View). So yes, check it out and the next time you'll remember is.... IT IS TIME FOR GOLDEN TIME!

Nami: The Bionicle Legend

Nami has been a work I had been working on since 2008 and it took me until this year Nov. 11, 2013 to finally make it into a webcomic series. All that hard work is finally progressing into something great, and I hope this series reach the many fans of Bionicle along with some new fans to enjoy and embrace the feels of... somewhat a Bionicle story.

The huge difference with this series is: it revolves around a human instead of just the biomechanical creatures in the Bionicle Universe...

You guys must be wondering "why a human?"

"Isn't there already too much stories with humans?"

I have no idea how to answer those questions yet... so lets continue on with what I was saying first...

This story, Nami has been a work I had been constantly working on and editing overtime, and it all started as an idea during the time when Bionicle was ending and I was fascinated in combining both humans and Bionicle into one awesome series because it was being done partially in BZPower forums (www.bzpower.com) by its members and even making a short anime series.

This might answer the previous questions mentioned earlier.

The only problem was coming up with an idea that no one has done yet which took some thinking to do... with Lego's epic series coming to an end (Well the toy line was ending) It felt like this awesome Bionicle series cannot end yet and there has to be more, which caused me to create a story that revolves with the Bionicle universe but not a continuation of what happens after, but more like a whole new story. It has almost all the same characters as the original and they do make their cameos, along with some new characters in the story.

That led to the first small DESCRIPTION of the series!

The story is about a girl name Nami Tsukimiya who started her first year in high school, but somehow got involved with a huge mishap... This involved the discovery of Biomechanical beings and she was chosen to bring balance to both worls.

Well not too much of a description but I had a light novel and a pilot comic to go with it here is the link to the light novel and here is the pilot comic! (Nami Light Novel)

After making the pilot comic on 2008... I then had plans to make a whole live action movie of it.... but that didn't happen and it just all halted from there until 2011... I picked up the series again and did some modifications.

The only thing was it didn't start becoming a mnaga again until now... During Summer 2013, I began planning for the webcomic series for Defensor Artz along with other web comic series in the future. It was then I decided to use Nami to start out the whole webcomic cherades which became the series you see now! You guys can check out more on lehvorak.deviantart.com or on Defensor Artz facebook page www.facebook.com/defensorartz

Well, I might talk more about Nami later, but here is the sample first page of the series and you can find out more on facebook and Deviantart!

Concept vs. What We See (Finished Product)

The idea of having anger portrayed onto your artwork or having the image's message say "DO NOT ABUSE!" is all concept!

So how do we determine whether it is the finish product than conceptual art?

Art by: Andre DeFreitas "Megatherium

From what I understand from Professor Kari Friedstad from painting. She said that if I describe what I want on the painting or have everything set to stone, that basically gets away from the concept idea. Still a bit confused on what I am saying?

Well, concept is something abstract and not exactly what is being shown on the image because concept is basically what the artist is trying to message to us. For example, if I want the image to explain something as stop abusing animals and keep saying that this suppose to explain to me that the image is saying stop the abuse of animals... that is basically concept.

To actually relay what the image is saying to me are the elements that are placed onto the image like if the image has a happy looking bear that is colored brown but half of its body was sliced in half and showing blood dripping out onto the dirt and having this image be placed in a forest preserve, that basically is showing the viewers something is wrong and that avoids the idea of concept, because that is what I see being portrayed onto the artwork instead of saying this suppose to mean "Do not abuse animals" because people can see it as something as "Don't poach."

Art by: Kari Friestad

My opinions with concept vs. final product is still a little vague, but slowly I am getting the clear picture of what it is because usually my style is a chaotic style and it just needs to be controlled properly. As I continue to hone my skills on my thesis project... this is what I can show for now that society is always hiding from the truth, but that is only just the concept idea.... most likely I want to show that sadness or whatever emotion is behind the story!
